Clinical trials of FDA-approved tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) have shown that some patients may lose up to 22.4% of their initial body weight when combined with proper diet and lifestyle modifications. These results were observed in studies of the FDA-approved version, not compounded formulations.
Our clinic may offer a compounded version of tirzepatide, prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy under Section 503A of the U.S. Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Tirzepatide vs. Mounjaro® / Zepbound®
Understanding Compounded Tirzepatide Compared to Branded Options
Tirzepatide is the active ingredient found in both Mounjaro® (FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes) and Zepbound® (FDA-approved for chronic weight management in certain adults).
At Integrity Medical Weight Loss, we offer compounded tirzepatide, prepared by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy, specifically for individual patients with a valid prescription.
Branded versions can cost significantly more due to commercial development, advertising, and packaging—not because they are more effective. In contrast, compounded tirzepatide offers flexibility in dosing, may include added nutrients such as vitamin B12 or glycine, and may be a more affordable option when prescribed off-label under medical supervision.
⚠️ Note: Compounded tirzepatide is not FDA-approved. It is prescribed off-label and compounded for individual use only, based on the professional judgment of your licensed healthcare provider.
